FEATURED HUSKIES FROM THE 20TH LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT
"I am passionate about addressing the health impacts of climate-related hazards by using evidence-based data to create more equitable and resilient health systems. At the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, I have worked to tackle climate and health challenges with the Center for Health and the Global Environment (CHanGE), contributing to the development of a heat-health risk mapping tool and overseeing the Center’s blog. I am committed to leading with compassion and a data-driven lens — as reflected in my service on the School of Public Health Dean’s Advisory Council for Students and my experiences improving health systems abroad — and I look forward to continuing my journey with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ next year as an MPH student in Epidemiology."

"Attending the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ has given me the opportunity to have enriching experiences that have defined me personally and professionally. I believe I have made a positive impact on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus and I have developed valuable skills through my experiences that will help me and the community I serve in my future endeavors. As an aspiring physician, combining my passion for serving vulnerable and disadvantaged communities and my love for medicine has shaped my enthusiasm to someday become the medical professional that I look up to."
SERVING THE 20TH LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT
The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ facilitates hundreds of programs in communities across the state. Below are a few that operate in your district. Programs active as of January 2023.

Chehalis STEM Camp
The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ partners with the Chehalis school district to host a weeklong at W.F. West High School, in Chehalis. The camp, for incoming 9th–12th graders, focuses on engineering and medical science. Faculty and students from the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ College of Engineering and Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Medicine provide opportunities to interact with cutting-edge technology and science.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ in the High School
Through the program, high school sophomores, juniors and seniors can complete Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ courses — and earn college credit — in their own classrooms with their own teachers. Teachers are approved and trained by Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ faculty to teach official Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ courses using Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ curriculum, activities, texts, tests and grading scales. Participating students can earn college credits at a fraction of the cost, and these credits are accepted by most colleges and universities across Washington and around the country. Partner high schools can offer Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ coursework in computer science, math, science, world languages, humanities and social sciences. .ÌýÌý

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ INSPIRE
supports western Washington educators of pre-K through 12th grade with reciprocal research-practice partnerships, focusing on student thinking and giving educators the opportunity to learn alongside children, improving instruction and student achievement. Fueled by innovative local educators at all levels of the public-school system and supported by local philanthropists and individual donors, INSPIRE is coordinated by a team of faculty, staff and graduate students at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ College of Education.

Pacific Northwest Seismic Network
The (PNSN), a partnership between the University of Oregon and the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, is dedicated to reducing impacts of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions in Washington and Oregon by providing accurate and timely information about earthquakes and ground motions to scientists, engineers, planners and the public. The second-largest seismic network in the United States, PNSN has more than 300 seismograph stations as well as several offices and personnel across the region.
