Raquel Montoya-LewisÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ ’95;
"I have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to the health and well-being of my community through spearheading many initiatives, such as a NARCAN distribution program at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Tacoma and developing a more inclusive training curriculum for my local crisis hotline. In leading these health initiatives and advocating for systemic changes at the state level, I've proven my ability to unite diverse groups and successfully advance public health initiatives. My Husky Experience reflects my passion for public health and my readiness to drive positive change in my community through the nonprofit and public sectors, embodying a leadership style that is proactive, compassionate and community focused."

SERVING THE 22ND LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT

The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ facilitates hundreds of programs in communities across the state. Below are a few that operate in your district. Programs active as of January 2023.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ in the High School

Through the program, high school sophomores, juniors and seniors can complete Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ courses — and earn college credit — in their own classrooms with their own teachers. Teachers are approved and trained by Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ faculty to teach official Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ courses using Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ curriculum, activities, texts, tests and grading scales. Participating students can earn college credits at a fraction of the cost, and these credits are accepted by most colleges and universities across Washington and around the country. Partner high schools can offer Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ coursework in computer science, math, science, world languages, humanities and social sciences. .ÌýÌý

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ INSPIRE

supports western Washington educators of pre-K through 12th grade with reciprocal research-practice partnerships, focusing on student thinking and giving educators the opportunity to learn alongside children, improving instruction and student achievement. Fueled by innovative local educators at all levels of the public-school system and supported by local philanthropists and individual donors, INSPIRE is coordinated by a team of faculty, staff and graduate students at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ College of Education.

Pacific Northwest Seismic Network

The (PNSN), a partnership between the University of Oregon and the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, is dedicated to reducing impacts of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions in Washington and Oregon by providing accurate and timely information about earthquakes and ground motions to scientists, engineers, planners and the public. The second-largest seismic network in the United States, PNSN has more than 300 seismograph stations as well as several offices and personnel across the region.
